Sternum pain post-bypass

I found some info on post-bypass pain in the sternum. Evidently it’s pretty common. Patients report cracking and popping in the bone when they sneeze or cough. Others report that the two halves of the bone sometimes don’t align properly and they overlap as they heal. It seems that one of the newer ways to close the incision is by threading a steel cable through the bone. It’s pretty amazing what the human body can tolerate.
Is everything ok? You aren’t getting a bypass are you?
Gosh no … not yet anyway.
I was just on this kick because of Regis Philbin’s bypass. I got to thinking about how much the bones are cut and moved during the surgery so I looked into this. Sorry for the false alarm.
